- Ever since the 30th Anniversary of leaving school in 2016, the Class of ’86 have been holding an annual reunion in Bristol with 20-25 of us getting together to reminisce and enjoy an evening in each other’s company.
Events of 2020 have obviously meant we cannot have a physical meet-up but Zoom has enabled us to do so virtually. Starting in July (when we were due to have an event in Bristol), we have been holding a monthly Zoom reunion – all of them going on until at least midnight!
November 7th was a special event and we were honoured to be joined by a special guest –our Headmaster Christopher Martin. Initially scheduled to be with us for ½ hour, Christopher took part in the Zoom for 1 ½ hours. Now in his early 80s but still looking as sprightly as ever, it was great to be able to chat with him and let him know what his former charges have achieved in the 30+ years since we had last seen him! We were also keen to
find out what he had been up to in the same period and were pleased to hear that he is still involved with the school as a member of the Cathedral Schools Trust.
The Class of ’86 was the first group that Christopher saw all the way from 1st Form to 6th Form so it was especially pleasing that 19 of us were able to get together in one place and take part in such a lively session.
We would also like to thank the Cathedralians Society Council for allowing us to use their Zoom account to facilitate this meeting.
If you would like to hold a similar meeting for your year group but don’t have access to Zoom or only have access to a time-limited account? Contact treasurer@cathedralians.email and we can help you to arrange a virtual get-together using the Society’s Zoom account.
